All About Evolution

The theory of evolution explains how the enormous variety of life could come into existence. How it is possible for primitive life forms to spawn the millions of different creatures, that exist today. Unfortunately, evolution is often misunderstood, because it's mechanisms seem counter intuitive.

5 NASA Inventions You Won't Believe

   1.  Nanoceramics Cure Cancer, Make Hair Shiny
While working as a NASA scientist specializing innanomaterials (which are 10,000 times smaller than a human hair), Dr. Dennis Morrison developed nanoceramics, which could be formed into tiny balloons called microcapsules. These little balloons could be filled with cancer-fighting drugs and injected into solid tumors.
Where, you're wondering, does space come into this process? In order to create the microscopic membrane around the liquid drugs, the microcapsules had to be formed in low-Earth orbit. Dr. Morrison's ceramic nanoparticles contained metals that would react when the patient was subjected to a magnetic field, like what's used in an MRI diagnostic machine. The capsules would melt, and the drugs would be released to fight the cancerous tumor.
It turns out that Dr. Morrison's ceramic-magnetic particles were good for more than fighting tumors -- they could also fight frizz. When incorporated into Farouk Systems's hairstyling iron and heated, the nanoparticles released ions that made hair smooth and shiny.

Solat menyihatkan badan

Apa Akan Terjadi Jika Kita Bergerak Selaju Kelajuan Cahaya?

Apa Akan Terjadi Jika Kita Bergerak Selaju Kelajuan Cahaya?

10 of The Biggest Lies in History

10. The Trojan Horse

If all is fair in love and war, this might be the most forgivable of the big lies. When the Trojan Paris absconded with Helen, wife of the Spartan king, war exploded. It had been raging for 10 long years when the Trojans believed they had finally overcome the Greeks. Little did they know, the Greeks had another trick up their sleeves.
In a stroke of genius, the Greeks built an enormous wooden horse with a hollow belly in which men could hide. After the Greeks convinced their foes that this structure was a peace offering, the Trojans happily accepted it and brought the horse within their fortified city. That night, as the Trojans slept, Greeks hidden inside snuck out the trap door. Then, they proceeded to slaughter and decisively defeat the Trojans.
This was unquestionably one of the biggest and most successful tricks known to history -- that is, if it's true. Homer mentions the occurrence in "The Iliad," and Virgil extrapolates the story in "The Aeneid." Evidence suggests that Troy itself existed, giving some validity to Homer's tales, and scholars have long been investigating how historically accurate these details are. One theory behind the Trojan horse comes from historian Michael Wood, who proposes that it was merely a battering ram in the shape of a horse that infiltrated the city [source: Haughton].

10 Strange Facts About Atomic Clocks

An atomic clock is a clock that uses an electronic transition frequency in the microwave, optical, or ultraviolet region of theelectromagnetic spectrum of atoms as a frequency standard for its timekeeping element. Atomic clocks are the most accurate time and frequency standards known, and are used as primary standards for international time distribution services, to control the wave frequency of television broadcasts, and in global navigation satellite systems such as GPS. The principle of operation of an atomic clock is not based on nuclear physics, but rather on atomic physics and using themicrowave signal that electrons in atoms emit when they change energy levels.

Why Should Start A Blog.

Why You Should Start a Blog .

Blogging is a fantastic approach of articulating yourself and conveying your thoughts. It gives you an opportunity to gather these thoughts and share them to the world with a boundless internet space waiting for you to be manipulated.

Here are six good reasons you should start a blog now:

1. You get to be the expert in your own arena.
Blogging about a niche you are passionate about and write anything about it under the sun actually makes you an expert in your own right. Gone are the days when you simply read and idolize writers for their excellent literary work; this time, the spot light is on you! With good research, you can write articles that interest you at the same time helping yourself develop over time in your craft.

2. Blogging provides a perfect outlet.
Instead of wasting your time and effort doing unproductive activities everytime you get frustrated or overjoyed, blogging can help you ventilate your inmost emotions. Remember how the greatest writers were motivated by their deepest feelings resulting to brilliant works of art that until today serve as inspirations to many? These write-ups you post on your blog can also be a good source of inspiration for you and your readers, and that is a great way to touch others’ lives too.
3. It can help you improve your writing skills.
Most bloggers don’t start off as expert writers. Some do not even have a formal writing degree. And you do not need one to generate a blog. Once you’ve started blogging, you will find yourself improving in terms of the technical aspects of writing. You will learn to use appropriate words and you will discover a lot of other writing techniques that can help you go to the next level.

4. Blogging improves your knowledge.
Blogging involves research especially if you provide facts for your readers as you do not want to provide inaccurate data to them. While doing so, you are allowing yourself to learn more from other authors. You allow yourself to venture out into the blogosphere and open up to new learning you’ve never acquired elsewhere. You’ll be amazed as to how much blogging can improve your knowledge.

5. There is money in blogging.
Blogging helps you build an audience with similar passion as you. These people read your blog because they either find it helpful, inspirational or entertaining. The moment you’ve established your readership, you can now associate promotional services to your readers. There are a lot of money-making strategies related to blogging such as Google AdSense and Amazon; these programs can help you generate funds for your blog.
Another money-making approach bloggers use today is guest-blogging. When website owners find your blog interesting and pertinent to their company blog, they can remunerate you for guest-blogging on their site.

6. Blogging opens up doors for other opportunities.
Many successful people, entrepreneurs, entertainers, writers and a lot more started out as simple bloggers. They believe in sharing to the world what captures their hearts and by taking that bold step through blogging, a whole different world of opportunities has opened for them.

What is St. Elmo's Fire?

If you were to look outside your home during a thunderstorm and see a tall streetlamp glowing with blue flames, you might be tempted to call the fire department. Then you might notice that the streetlamp is on fire but isn't actually burning -- and the water from the fire hose isn't putting out the flames. At this point, you might be about ready to call a priest, but that, like the call to the fire department, would be unnecessary. The phenomenon you're witnessing is actually St. Elmo's Fire. (Which has nothing to do with a 1980s coming-of-age film starring a young Emilio Estevez.)

Brain during orgasm

Although the reasons for having sex of any kind are varied and complex, reaching orgasm is usually the goal. Because we're all so different, coming up with a universal description of an orgasm is impossible. The one thing that most people can agree on is that it's an incredibly, intensely pleasurable experience.
" Merriam-Webster gets more descriptive, stating that it's "an explosive discharge of neuromuscular tensions at the height of sexual arousal that is usually accompanied by the ejaculation of semen in the male and by vaginal contractions in the female." The famous sex researcher Dr. Alfred Kinsey once said that an orgasm "can be likened to the crescendo, climax, and sudden stillness achieved by an orchestra of human emotions ... an explosion of tensions, and to sneezing" [source: Geddes].
Nearly every aspect of the orgasm -- what's required to have one, why some people can't seem to achieve one, why we have them at all -- has been the subject of much research and debate. What happens to the body during an orgasm is pretty well-known, and it's no surprise that the brain plays a big part in reaching one. But researchers are still in the process of figuring out exactly what's happening in the brain during an orgasm. Let's start with looking at the messages that the body sends to the brain.

10 Scariest Bioweapons

Small pox
Smallpox is caused by the variola virus. The most common form of the disease has a 30 percent mortality rate [source: CDC]. Signs of smallpox include high fevers, body aches, and a rash that develops from fluid-filled bumps and scabs to permanent, pitted scars. The disease predominantly spreads through direct contact with an infected person's skin or bodily fluids, but also can be spread though the air in close, confined environments.
In 1967, the World Health Organization (WHO) spearheaded an effort to eradicate smallpox through mass vaccinations. As a result, 1977 marked the last naturally occurring case of smallpox. The disease was effectively eliminated from the natural world, but laboratory copies of smallpox still exist. Both Russia and the United States possess WHO-approved stores, but as smallpox played a role in several nations' bioweapons programs, it's unknown how many secret stockpiles still exist.
The CDC classifies smallpox as a Category A biological weapon due to its high mortality rate and the fact that it can be transmitted through the air. While a smallpox vaccine exists, typically only medical and military personnel undergo vaccination -- meaning the rest of the population is very much at risk if smallpox were unleashed as a weapon. How might the virus be released? Probably in aerosol form or even in the old-fashioned way: by sending an infected individual directly into the target area.
The method for unleashing a biological weapon doesn't have to be flashy, however.

Anthrax

Most cases of anthrax are cutaneous, transmitted through skin contact with the spores. The most deadly form is inhalation anthrax, when the spores travel to the lungs and then the immune cells carry them to the lymph nodes. Here, the spores multiply and release toxins that result in such symptoms as fever, respiratory problems, fatigue, muscle aches, enlarged lymph nodes, nausea, vomiting, diarrhea and black ulcers. Inhalation anthrax carries the highest mortality rate of the three (100 percent, 75 percent with medical treatment), and unfortunately, that was the form contracted by all five casualties from the 2001 anthrax letters [source: NPR].
The disease isn't easy to catch under normal situations, and it can't be transmitted from person to person. Still, health workers, veterinarians and military personnel normally undergo vaccinations. The rest of us, however, remain at risk if someone were bent on another anthrax attack.
Along with the lack of widespread vaccination -- a common theme among our scary bioweapon nominees -- longevity is another point in anthrax's favor. Many harmful biological agents can only survive a short while under certain conditions. But hardy B. anthracis can sit on the shelf for 40 years or more and still pose a lethal threat.
